our story

we met almost ten years ago. probably in the chapel at church. and most likely looking and feeling pretty awkward, as most 13/14 year olds do.

i just moved to germany & he had lived there his whole life. in middle school and high school we would talk at church and during our glory days working as baggers at the commissary, but not much more than that. in high school (but probably ever since he could walk because look at him) he was quite the ladies man. he will deny it, but it's true. we both dated different people in high school and once we graduated, he went on his mission and i went to lds business college in salt lake city. after his mission he went to byu idaho and for christmas in 2012, we were both in germany for the holidays.

we went bowling on our first date (but i wasn't really sure it was a date). and then shopping for a birthday present for his sister. at the ward christmas activity, he invited me to go with his family downtown to the christmas market to have damphnudeln. i had never had it before, so i went. we talked a little bit on the way home and then our families had dinner together at a thai restaurant the night before he left to go back to school. it was an awkward dinner and we gave each other an awkward hug goodbye and he was off. and i honestly didn't think much of anything.

when he got back to idaho, he started facebook messaging me. every. day. and i still just went with it, thinking he was just being nice. (i also thought he was dating someone, which he kind of was, so i wasn't completely wrong.) this chatting every day went on for the whole semester. in the meantime i had decided to start spring term at byu and he was coming back to germany for the summer. our trips overlapped for three days in utah and we spent almost every second together. it was the best weekend. but i was going to byu....i did not want to get too invovled. i mean, i was going to byu! i wanted to date around a lot, and that's what i did. and i kind of broke his little heart.

it got to the point where i was going on a dates every weekend, and sometimes even multiple dates in a day. but i could not get him out of my head. i saw pictures of him in germany with other girls and knew i had messed up. i was jealous to my very core. it was intense. i hated seeing him with other girls. at this point, i pretty much begged him for a second chance and used my return flight to germany (that i wasn't planning on using) to go get him back. i literally flew half way across was the world for him.

we did one semester long distance with me in provo and him in rexburg. he transferred here for winter semester and we got engaged a week later on my birthday. married on june 27th. and life is beautiful.
